Summer Girls: J.Crew and Maryam Nassir Zadeh

A compelling addition to our summer wardrobes comes courtesy of the marriage of two of New York’s coolest creative minds.

Indie designer Maryam Nassir Zadeh, known for her Lower East Side store which combines curation and community, and Olympia Gayot, the J.Crew creative director responsible for the prep purveyor’s recent renaissance.

The 30 piece capsule – and Maryam’s first ever collaboration – spotlights her design signatures: comfy-but-fun block heels, cropped ballet cardigans and transparent fabrics which conceal and reveal in all the best places. There’s a nostalgic smattering of vintage J.Crew too, from sprightly polka dots to crystal embellishments.

Shot in Formentera, the collection characterises the impromptu moments we spend our year looking forward to. It’s made for the vacation versions of ourselves – fashion enthusiasts who dare to dress that little bit more authentically with the promise of a couple of extra degrees celsius and the scent of sea in the air.

We’ll be reaching for it on all our travels, with renewed energy and a carefree spirit.
