6397 Is a Label With Expression and Soul

New York label 6397 is the brainchild of Stella Ishii. Its clothing with originality and ease, inspired — and designed — by the community of individuals who surround it.

Unpacking the design process of this energized label reveals why the clothing resonates so deeply. Head designer Lizzie Owens leads a roundtable with a select female committee — Stella Ishii, Judy Collins, and Jenny Smith. Together, the team engages in methodical analysis to assess whether each piece is fit for the various scenarios in which a woman might want to live — and feel — in her clothes.

The name, 6397, is an alphanumeric rendering of N-E-W-S on a telephone keypad — a natural extension of Stella’s established showroom, The NEWS.

For spring summer 2025 we have bookmarked many favourite 6397 items including; the Wide Jean in Optical Blue (Made in Italy), the 100% cotton Barn Jacket to sling over the Big Russell Dot Tee, and the Balmacaan Jacket to feel comfortable, but ready for business.
