Details That Count — 7 Bath Mats That Look Great Underfoot

by Claire Walsh
A new bath mat is a relatively minimal investment, maximum impact purchase. I like to think of them more as a rug than a towel, and so, they require consideration as you are standing on them daily.
If opting for a terry or loop-weave cotton mat, spend a little more — your toes will thank you. Traditional Portuguese flat-woven rugs with raised hand-knotted motifs are iconic and affordable. Flat and jacquard weaves have texture and pattern that makes a statement.
Whatever you choose, I beg you to wash them often, with cool water. And I personally like to hang my mat when not in use to limit wear and tear.
