Once, while wandering the aisles of Le Bon Marché’s food hall in Paris, we spotted the most effortlessly sophisticated woman on a swift evening grocery shop — she was wearing a beautifully cut oversized blazer, crumpled by her day, worn over baggy jeans with lived-in hair, and simple trainers. It’s a sighting that has stayed with us whenever we’re in search of a blazer.

We’ve always been partial to an outfit for an errand. There is something particularly pleasing about getting dressed for the ordinary business of the day — the food shop, a cinema trip, a walk through the park, dinner somewhere later. And a blazer is especially good at moving between all of it.
